Your comprehensive adult eye examination will include:
- Evaluation of your personal and family medical history as it pertains to eye health.
- Tests to measure your visual clarity.
- Initial assessments for vision and eye health, including checks for depth perception, color recognition, peripheral vision, and how your pupils react to light.
- Analysis to determine if you have nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism through the assessment of your refractive status.
- Examination of your eye's focusing capability, as well as how well your eyes work together and follow movement.
- A thorough examination of the overall health of your eyes.
- Additional testing if required based on the initial findings
During a comprehensive eye exam, your eye doctor does much more than just determine your prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses. Your doctor will also check your eyes for common eye diseases, color vision, assess how your eyes work together, and evaluate your eyes as an indicator of your overall health. The exam will include testing with a Snellen chart to determine the sharpness of your vision.
